Why people are switching to copper
Plastic is in almost everything we drink from. Copper is one of the oldest, simplest alternatives. Here's what it does, what it doesn't, and how to tell a real one.

tiny plastic particles were found, on average, in a single liter of bottled water.*
- Some plastics can release chemicals such as BPA into what they hold (NIEHS)
- Water left sitting in plastic can start to taste of it
- Most of us drink from plastic every single day

6 reasons to drink from copper
No plastic lining
Pure copper inside and out, with only a small seal ring in the cap. No straw, no spout, no plastic liner.
Naturally fresher water
In a 2012 study, water contaminated with bacteria and stored in copper for 16 hours had no live bacteria left by morning.
The Ayurvedic morning ritual*
Fill it at night, drink it first thing. A calm, simple way to start the day, practised for centuries.
A reason to drink more water
A bottle you love is one you reach for. Getting enough water every day is important for your health (CDC).
Soft, fresh taste
Many copper owners describe their water as clean and fresh. Taste is personal, so we don't promise it.
Built to last
One copper bottle replaces hundreds of plastic ones. No filters, straws or parts to wear out.
Tamra jal: the Ayurvedic tradition*
In Ayurveda, India's traditional system of wellbeing, water stored overnight in a copper vessel is called tamra jal. For generations, families have filled a copper vessel before bed and drunk from it first thing in the morning. It's traditionally taken to start the day in balance and to support digestion.
*Traditional Ayurvedic use. These traditional benefits haven't been confirmed by modern scientific studies, and this bottle isn't intended to diagnose, treat or cure any condition.
How copper compares
An honest look at the four common choices.
| Plastic | Glass | Stainless steel | PlainWell copper | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What touches your water | Plastic | Glass | Steel, often with a plastic lid or straw | Pure copper (small cap seal) |
| Plastic particles from the bottle | Can shed them | None | Only from plastic parts | None from the bottle body |
| Keeps stored water naturally fresh | No | No | No | Yes (2012 study) |
| Part of a traditional ritual | No | No | No | Yes, Ayurveda* |
| How long it lasts | Scratches, replaced often | Can break | Years | Years, with simple care |
| What you can put in it | Anything cold | Anything | Anything | Plain water only |
Not everything copper-coloured is copper
Some bottles sold as "copper" are stainless steel with a copper-coloured coating, or have a lining inside. They look the same in photos, but your water never touches copper.
- Look inside the neck: you should see copper, not silver
- Real copper darkens naturally over time, like a penny
- Lemon and a pinch of salt bring back the shine; paint just chips
Ours is tested by SGS, one of the world's largest independent testing companies: 99.6% pure copper.

What we don't claim
You'll see copper bottles sold online with big health promises. We don't make them. There's no good scientific evidence that drinking from copper treats or prevents any disease, boosts immunity, reduces inflammation, helps with weight loss or "detoxes" your body. So we won't tell you it does.
What we can tell you: it keeps plastic out of your water, it's real copper, it's part of a centuries-old ritual, and it's a lovely thing to drink from every day.
